University of Barcelona hosts the launch event of the EU-funded project “Victims with Irregular Migration Status’ Safe Reporting of Crimes” (VISA RoC)

Barcelona – On 1 and 2 December 2022, the University of Barcelona hosted the kick-off meeting of the project “Victims with Irregular Migration Status’ Safe Reporting of Crimes” (VISA RoC), funded by the European Commission. The event brought together all partners of the project (University of Barcelona, City of Gent, City of Utrecht, University of Milan, Institut de Seguretat Publica de Catalunya, Fundacio MigraStudium, PICUM and Stichting Hogeschool Utrecht) to discuss the state-of-the-art regarding safe reporting of crimes in the participating cities, and the implementation of the project.

The project will run from October 2023 to October 2024, and it aims to promoting mechanisms to guarantee equality in the access to justice by setting up or improving practices in the participating cities (Barcelona, Gent, Utrecht and Milan) with regards to safe reporting of crimes by victims with irregular migration status. The activities will encompass research, awareness campaigns, capacity building, the establishment of local partnerships and dissemination of knowledge.
